Description of the genus

Epiphytic or lithophytic, monopodial herbs, often robust and with elongated stems, bearing the remains of old leaf bases. Pseudobulbs 0. Leaves distichous, often twisted at the base to lie in one plane; apex unequally 2-lobed. Inflorescence arising opposite the leaves, 2-many-flowered. Flowers usually yellow, buff-orange or green, less often white. Sepals and petals similar, free, usually spreading. Lip 3-lobed with basal auricles; base spurred. Column short fleshy. Pollinia 2.

Worldwide: 38 species in tropical and South Africa
