Taxonomist at Royal Botanic Garden of KEW, specialist on Asteraceae. Author of a number of volumesfor Flora of Tropical East Africa including Compositae, Aspleniaceae, Ericaceae, Restionaceae, Cymodoceaceae, Hydnoraceae, several other small families. Former editor of FTEA and editor of various Botanical bulletins.
