Evergreen tree up to 30 m tall but usually much smaller as a planted tree. Branchlets gracefully drooping. Leaves c. 6 cm long, elliptic-ovate, glossy dark green above, paler below, leathery, hairless; lateral veins very fine, parallel, numerous; apex drawn out into a very long tip. Figs in axillary pairs, sessile, lacking a 'neck', spherical, 8-12 × 7-10 mm, usually ripening red or pink, sometimes pale yellow. See var. nuda for the differences in that variety. |
