| Description: | Perennial herb with stems to 70 cm, arising from a woody rootstock. Leaves: lamina 4-13 cm, linear-lanceolate to elliptic or obovate. Flowers solitary; pedicel with capitate glands sometimes mixed with non-glandular hairs or puberulous, rarely glabrous; bracteoles with sparse to dense short glands or puberulous, rarely glabrous. Calyx 1-3 mm long; lobes broadly triangular. Corolla limb dark purple to deep maroon, more rarely blue or purple; lower part of tube white to pale yellow. Capsule with beak 2 cm long. Seeds with lateral wing. |
