Description: |
Shrub or small tree; young branches more or less round, hairless to densely pubescent. Leaves elliptic to oblong-elliptic, 5.5–20 cm long, acuminate at apex, cuneate at base, membranous, hairless above, hairless to sparsely pubescent with densely pubescent nerves beneath; veins red beneath; domatia present but only sometimes conspicuous; petiole 0.6–1.8 cm long, hairless or sparsely pubescent; stipules 0.5–1 cm long, triangular, acuminate or more or less abruptly lobed. Inflorescence cymose, more or less compact; peduncle 5–20 mm long, hairless to pubescent; pedicels 2–4 mm long, sparsely to densely pubescent; bracts and bracteoles small. Corolla waxy-white often tinged pink or red; tube very short, scarcely exceeding 1 mm long, hairy within; lobes ovate, 0.5–1 cm long, rounded. Calyx sparsely to densely pubescent; tube c. 1 mm long; limb 0.25–0.5 mm long, divided nearly to base into acute triangular lobes. Fruit 7.5–9 mm in diameter, red or purple-brown. |
