Description:
Stout perennial herb. Leaves oblong-elliptic, pointed at the apex, variably hairless or hairy but not appressed silvery hairy beneath. Inflorescences up to 35 cm long; , greenish to purple-red.Erect perennial, sometimes climbing or scrambling. Leaves oblong-elliptic, pointed at the apex, variably hairless or hairy, in some varieties silvery hairy beneath or when young. Inflorescences dense at first but elongating up to 35 cm long with more widely spaced flowers. Flowers with perianth segments up to 7 mm long, greenish to silvey-white, often tinged with purple-red.
Notes: Many varieties (at least 9) have been described. It is not always clear to distinguish them in the field.
