Robust hairy perennial with swollen fleshy densely crowded culm bases. Culms 15-70 cm × 0.8-3 mm, triangular, hairy at least above. Leaves: lamina 10-30 cm × 2-5 mm, hairy; leaf sheaths fleshy. Involucral bracts 3-5, hairy. Inflorescence of one sessile and 2-7 stalked spikes; spikes 1-2.5 cm. Spikelets falling as a unit when mature. Glumes light brown, densely hairy; apex ± recurved. |
