Description:
Annual herb up to c. 50 cm high, branching from the base. Leaves ovate, 2-7 cm long, margin serrate. Inflorescences with both male and female flowers, usually less than 2.5 cm long. Female bracts per inflorescence 1-3; bracts crenate; the few-flowered male portion pedunculate with flowers often reddish.
