Description:
Virgate shrubby herb occasionally reaching up to 2.5 m high but usually smaller. Stems covered in rough stellate hairs. Leaves more or less narrowly oblong-elliptic, lanceolate-elliptic to almost round, 1-5 cm long, stellate hairy on both surfaces; margin serrate; petiole 1-5 cm long. Flowers solitary, axillary but appearing as terminal racems due to reduction of the upper leaves, small, up c. 1 cm in diameter, white, pinkish or purplish; epicalyx of 5-7 filiform bracts, 1.5-3 mm long. Capsule depressed globose, 8-12 mm in diameter; seeds with a silky whitish floss.
